Week of April 6th

Hello Parents and Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you all well.  As you know, our staff has been working hard all week planning exciting and engaging learning opportunities (online or paper) as per the guidelines of the Continuity of Learning plan for your child.  Our teachers, as well as our Educational Assistants, have gathered and packed up all their belongings (see schedule below).  By now, you should have been contacted by your child’s teacher.  If you have not, please check your email or telephone messages.

Here is the information for the upcoming week:

  1.  Teachers are preparing the learning plans for your child.  While we understand that some parents have been providing their child with learning opportunities already, it is important to try to complete the work the teachers will be sending home.  The teachers are working hard to ensure your child continues to learn therefore you are encouraged to complete the assigned work provided for you.  The teachers will be touching base with your child and will give feedback on the completed work.  As always, if you have any questions regarding the assignments, feel free to contact your child’s teacher.  All teachers are available between the hours of 8:30 am to 2:50 pm (M-F) by email and/or telephone.
  2. Online learning will officially begin April 14th, however, some teachers may send some assignments the week of Monday, April 6th
  3. Reimbursement payments for Hot Lunch, Québec trip, and the Purdy Orders will be available for pick-up starting Tuesday, April 7th (Please see the schedule for pick-up).
  4. If you have any library books, please bring them with you when you pick up your child’s belongings.  We will have a box outside to drop off the books.
  5. Lost and Found items will be in the gym.
  6. We are all living through exceptional times that may cause anxiety and stress.  Please know that we are all here to support each other.  Your child can also access the Kids Help phone line if they need extra support. This service is completely confidential.  Please find the contact for the service at: Kids Help Phone Website: https://kidshelpphone.ca/ Kids Help Phone Number: 1-800-668-6868
  7. Our elementary counselor, Mrs. Baker continues to be available to support our students, families and staff of École Central.  Your primary contact is your child’s classroom teacher or Mme Côté-Aubin and they will contact Mrs. Baker if there is a need to set up a time to connect.
  8. We have ordered Beauty and the Beast DVDs.  We will let you know when they are ready.  If you have not ordered your copy and would like one, please let me know by Wednesday, April 8th

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or if we can be of any assistance to you and your family.  Even though we are all practicing physical isolation, we are here to support you and work together through these difficult times.

Sincerely,

Mme Côté-Aubin

Specific Information Regarding Pick-Up of belongings as well as Quebec and Hot Lunch Reimbursements, iPads-grade 6 students.

The information below will outline the process that we need to follow to ensure we are meeting Health and Safety Regulations related to COVID-19 process:

  •  On Tuesday, April 7, Wednesday, April 8, and Thursday, April 9, we invite one parent/guardian to come to the school to pick up student belongings, school supplies, and work packages (as well as any Purdy’s orders, Hot Lunch and Québec reimbursements). Please do not bring children with you as they will not be allowed in the school. (Please see schedule below.)
  • You will be met at the gym doors close to the flag pole by a staff member acting as a recorder; we are required to log the name of every person that enters the school and to have a contact number on record. This will provide easier tracking if there were to be a case of exposure to the virus. PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE SCHOOL IF YOU ARE FEELING UNWELL.
  • Please be mindful and respectful of the social distancing requirements as you enter the school.  It is also important for you to be spaced 2 meters apart in line while waiting to check in with the recorder.  We will have cones set up to guide you.
  • Once inside, go to the designated line for your child’s classroom and select the bag marked with their belongings. Look through the lost and found items.  Once you have picked up all the belongings immediately exit the gym.
