ADST Values Modules Spotlight – Resiliency

Resiliency – Mme Annie & Mme Stephanie

Our next value spotlight from our ADST Values Modules is RESILIENCY. During this module both Mme Annie and Mme Stephanie’s groups start with a short clip pertaining to resiliency. The group with Mme Annie will then attempt to build a castle out of playing cards. To start, students will get in groups and draw out a plan for their castle. They will then attempt to build the castle they have mapped out. As they go, if they are unable to build the castle they have planned, they go back to the drawing board and plan again. Student’s that are in Mme Stephanie’s group will be given group challenges in the gym where they will have to work together and problem solve to overcome obstacles. These games include getting a hula-hoop from one end of a group line to another, the human knot game, and other group challenges. Resiliency is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties and to not give up. In all the activities these two groups complete, the goal is to reinforce the idea to not give up and to be resilient in completing the task at hand.
